Hello! It’s been a while since I have posted on the site. It’s for good reason. So much has happened this summer and it’s all been great. First, I made another film called, 90 Days. The film tells the story of a couple, Jessica and Taylor, who after ninety days of dating have to deal with the realities surrounding living and loving with HIV when one of them discloses his or her positive status.
The film stars Teyonah Parris (“Dear White People”, “Survivor’s Remorse”, “Mad Men”), Nic Few (“The Chadwick Journals”), Pauletta Washington (“Beloved”, “Antwone Fisher”), Rodney Chester (“Noah’s Arc”) and comedian Emmett Short (“Lopez Tonight”). It is partially sponsored by the ACT Against AIDS Initiative (a collaboration between the White House & the CDC) and the New York State Department of Health.
It was an AMAZING experience from beginning to end. I wrote the screenplay for the film in one day on February 28th – six days after my 40th birthday and then, passed it along to my dear friend, Jennia Fredrique Aponte. Jennia read the script and loved it so much that she wanted to direct it. Only problem was that I had intended to direct it. So, we decided to co-direct the film and it was a collaboration made in heaven.
To boot, she brought along her husband, Sol Aponte as our amazing lead producer. Add Nasir Kenneth Ferebee, Richard E. Pelzer, II and Andrea J. Hargrave and the dream team was formed. I have not had such an amazing experience production wise.
Our actors gave performances that not only lifted my words to new levels, but moved all of us and I hope you will be moved too. We are in post production and the film will be hitting the festival circuit in 2017 with some private and community screenings this year as well as throughout our 2017 tour. Stay tuned for updates.
More exciting stuff has happened, which I will be updating over the next weeks. It’s great to be back after a very busy Spring/Summer. I am super excited to share what I’ve been working on with all of you. Dreams come true! Cheers!!
Wishing you LOVE & CEASELESS JOY!
